The English Department helps all Buffalo State students harness the power of words to achieve academic and career success.
The department is multi-faceted—offering courses in writing, language, film, literary theory, and literature. The department offers degrees in English, English Education, and Writing.
English majors study literature and writing. English education majors combine that study with training and teaching. English majors become writers, editors, and teachers or success in positions that require creativity combined with analytical and critical-thinking skills.
Our faculty is closely involved with the local literary arts community. Our students and educators regularly host and participate in on-campus readings, lectures, and book signings.
