English
The English B.A. program offers three areas of service: a liberal arts English major, the enhancement of writing skills, and electives to satisfy Intellectual Foundations requirements.
Students who graduate with a degree in English develop a broad understanding of literature, literary criticism, and writing.
Degrees: English—bachelor of arts (B.A.); undergraduate minor; master of arts (M.A.)
English Education
The English B.S. degree program in secondary education leads to a New York State Initial Certificate for teaching English in grades 7–12.
Students learn about teaching as a general field of interest and plan in-depth unit plans. The program culminates in two seven week-student teaching placements.
Degrees: English education (7–12)—bachelor of science (B.S.); postbaccalaureate teacher certification; master of science in education (M.S.Ed.)
Writing
The B.A. in writing program offers students an opportunity to focus on the study and practice of writing along with studies in literature. who are keenly interested in the craft of writing with the opportunity to develop their talent.
The Writing Minor gives students the opportunity to improve their skills in composition, creative prose, journalism, and poetry.
