The English B.A. program offers three areas of service: a liberal arts English major, the enhancement of writing skills, and electives to satisfy Intellectual Foundations requirements.

English Education
The English B.S. degree program in secondary education leads to a New York State Initial Certificate for teaching English in grades 7–12.
Students learn about teaching as a general field of interest and plan in-depth unit plans. The program culminates in two seven week-student teaching placements.
Degrees: English education (7–12)—bachelor of science (B.S.); postbaccalaureate teacher certification; master of science in education (M.S.Ed.)
Writing
The B.A. in writing provides students who are keenly interested in the craft of writing with the opportunity to develop their talent.
The Writing Minor allows students pursuing a traditional to develop as writers across a range of modes.
