The English Department's goal is to teach the skills necessary for our students to engage in the process of reading, writing, and exchanging ideas for the rest of their lives. We are dedicated to maintaining a nurturing and intellectually vital environment for thoughtful communication among students, faculty, and the larger community through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Involved
Our faculty is a team of learned and respected professors and lecturers. Faculty members are heavily involved with the local literary community—regularly organizing, hosting, and participating in on-campus readings.
Advisement
Your department adviser is an indispensable resource. When you become an English major, you will be assigned an adviser (contact us if you have questions). We recommend that you make an appointment as soon as possible to get acquainted with your adviser, as he or she is the person who will provide guidance when it comes to course selection, registration, fulfilling degree requirements, and considering career avenues.
