Dr. Anna P. Burrell Scholarship Program

The Dr. Anna P. Burrell Diversity Scholars Program is designed to enhance student diversity at the college by increasing the enrollment and support for academically talented, minority students. A particular focus of the program is placed on the recruitment and retention of students who contribute to the diversity of the student body and have demonstrated that they have overcome a disadvantage or other impediment to success in higher education. The Burrell Scholarship Program provides supportive services, activities, and a campus environment that is highly conducive to scholastic achievement. The program is funded by the State University of New York Empire State Minority Honors Scholarship Program and Buffalo State College's Foundation Office.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Must be a New York State Resident
  • Must Demonstrate that she/he has overcome a disadvantage or other impediment to success in higher education
  • Must have completed a college preparatory high school program (four years of English and Social Studies and three to four years each of Mathematics and Science)
  • Must have achieved a minimum 85 percent un weighted high school average or higher
  • Must be in the upper 40 percent of their high school class
  • Must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities in high school and in the local community

How to Apply:

Students interested in applying for the Burrell Diversity Scholars Program:

  1. Must be accepted to Buffalo State College
  2. Must complete the Dr. Anna P. Burrell Diversity Scholars Program Application
