Horatio Alger Military Veterans Scholarship
Military Personnel who served in the Iraq/Afghanistan War
The Horatio Alger Association is accepting applications from June 15th through September 1st for its Horatio Alger Military Veterans Scholarship. The Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.
Applicants must show proof of service by submitting a copy of Department of Defense Form 214 (DD214), a copy of their federal tax return to verify income, and active duty personnel need a copy of their Travel Orders (DD1610).

Military Education Scholarship
Military Education Scholarships are funded by employees of the VA Mortgage Center. To be eligible you must be either: a current and prospective ROTC program student; or active duty military personnel with plans to attend college; or a honorably discharged veteran of the US military; or sons and daughters of Veterans or Active duty military.

Genevieve C. and Richard C. Brown Scholarship
The Genevieve C. and Richard C. Brown Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to female veterans who have been honorably discharged from military service of the United States who aspire to earn a degree from any academic discipline at Buffalo State College.
Criteria:
- Candidates must be female
- Candidates must provide documentation of a discharge from any branch of a United States Military Service by submitting a copy of the DD214 form
- Candidates must be a full time student carrying a 12 credit hour or more course load each semester
How To Apply:
Students interested in being considered a candidate for the Genevieve C. and Richard C. Brown Scholarship must submit a brief statement or essay describing how their military service prepared them for a successful academic experience and why they are in need of a scholarship.
Applications are to be submitted at the Buffalo State College Scholarship Office, MH230.
