Beyond the Classroom
The Exceptional Education Department provides students with professional development and leadership opportunities, along with career advisement through Buffalo State's Career Development Center. Graduate assistantships allow students to be involved in administrative and research roles while earning stipends and tuition waivers.
Other student activities include Chapter 117, Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and opportunities to attend and present papers or projects at state and national conventions.
Exceptional Education graduates are employed in every state in the United States and in many foreign countries in special education positions as preschool, elementary, and junior and senior high school teachers; special education administrators; teachers in bilingual programs; and college and university instructors and administrators.
