Best Buddies promotes one-on-one friendships
If you are looking for a good time and to socialize with a great group of people, then Best Buddies could be the group for you. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that is focused on pairing up one-on-one friendships between a student and an individual with a disability. Currently, Buffalo State College is the only chapter in Western New York. This is sad because other colleges and high schools could form their own groups and have lasting memories and friendships just like Buffalo State has.
For example, two events that Best Buddies participates in every year are the Polar Plunge, which is held in December, and the Friendship Walk, which is held in April. Last year, our president went to a leadership conference in Indiana and received the Outstanding College Chapter of the Year award on our behalf. There are more than 250 college chapters internationally, so to be recognized was a great honor.
I have been a member of Best Buddies for about three years. It is a great time and I enjoy going to the activities and meeting new people. Best Buddies is like one big happy family. Everyone is there to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. If anyone is interested in building friendships, I suggest joining Best Buddies at Buffalo State.
