Public Access to Records of the State University of New York
Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)
Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law §§ 84–90) requires that entities within the State University of New York (University) make certain records available to the public. The law requires each campus and the system administration of the University to designate records access officers. Requests for information from the campus or the system administration should be directed to the respective records access officer at each location, as appropriate.
Under FOIL, to view or request copies of records held by Buffalo State, please send a letter, fax, or e-mail to:
Records Access Officer
Cleveland Hall 505
1300 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14222
(716) 878-4350 (fax)
Requests under FOIL should include specific information about the records being sought. Whenever possible, dates, titles, file designations, or other information that will help locate such records should be provided.
The University policy concerning Freedom of Information can be found on the SUNY Website.
