Travel Conditions and Advisories

Please travel safely!

The New York State Thruway Authority provides a variety of information for motorists, including reports of traffic conditions and weather advisories.  The Niagara Frontier Transit Authority also publishes a traffic report that advises motorists about road and traffic conditions and driving trouble spots.

Escort Shuttles: The Grant-Cleveland and Overnight Shuttles

Buffalo State provides two varietes of shuttle service for your safety and convenience.  Both are free of charge.

The Grant-Cleveland Shuttle is an express shuttle connecting students, faculty, and staff who park in outlying lots along Rockwell Road and Letchworth Street to the center of campus.  The Grant-Cleveland Shuttle picks up riders in Lots G-20 and R-14 and takes them directly to Lot R-4 (also known as the Cleveland Hall circle) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when classes are in session.

The overnight escort shuttle operates from 4:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. seven days a week when classes are in session and provides late-night service to all parking lots and most buildings. To catch this evening shuttle, wait at a blue-light phone along the shuttle route.

Motorist Assistance Program

If you're having car trouble, please call 716-878-6333, or use a blue-light phone to request assistance.  Buffalo State's Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) Van can help with minor problems like flat tires and drained batteries.     

In Case of Emergency

Advisories will inform the campus community about impacts to parking and transportation at and around Buffalo State.

Buffalo State's University Police Department maintains information about emergency campus closings and all aspects of campus safety.  In any campus emergency, call University Police at (716) 878-6333, dial extension 6333 from a campus phone, or use a blue-light phone.  Calling 911 will result in unnecessary delays.

Buffalo State is currently engaged in a number of capital projects including construction of the Science and Mathematics Complex and the Technology Building, several building renovations, and the rehabilitation of campus undeground utilities. 

Although Buffalo State and its contractors are doing their best to minimize the impact of the constuction on the campus community, some disruption will occur.   Please refer to these advisories and these announcements and messages for the latest information about the impacts of construction.  To learn more about campus capital projects, visit our construction website.
