What follows is a list of the most common errors that families make when completing the Express TAP Application (ETA):
- Did not submit ETA - ETA is sent to student after student submits FAFSA.
- Did not mark New York State resident on FAFSA - if this is not marked student will not be sent an ETA or be allowed to complete the ETA on-line.
- Did not list a New York school on FAFSA - if a NY school is not listed student will not be sent an ETA.
- Tried completing TAP on the Web before a valid FAFSA submitted.
- Wrong school listed - institution should be SUC Buffalo 0905.
- Received a CUNY ETA - must request a standard ETA. Can be avoided by listing SUNY school before CUNY school on FAFSA.
- Required signatures missing - signatures of student, parents and spouses are required.
- Didn't include parental income - must meet age requirement to exclude parental income.
- Date of birth or Social Security number wrong - must be corrected.
