Once a supervisor offers you a position you must submit complete employment papers to the financial aid office. The paperwork to be completed is given to you by the supervisor. You cannot begin working until the paperwork has been submitted to the financial aid office.
Students who worked for BSC in the previous year only need to submit two items:
- Departmental Work-Study Placement Card
- Federal Work-Study Appointment Form
New work-study students must also submit the following documents:
- Federal W-4
- NY State IT-2104
- Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9)
- NY State Employees' Retirement System Membership form
The I-9 requires that you show proof of eligibility to work in the US. This is done most often by showing a social security card, birth certificate or passport. Photocopies are not acceptable. The original document needs to be shown prior to beginning to work. For further details on what documents can meet this requirement review the last page of the I-9 form (PDF), columns A and C.
