WORK-STUDY

Work-study is need based aid.  Not all students qualify.  It is Buffalo State's practice to award loans first and then work-study second, only if the student has sufficient remaining unmet need.

If a student was not awarded work-study they can request that it be added to their award.  However, for this to happen they usually must decline a portion of either their Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan or their Federal Perkins Loan.

Students receive eligibility letters a few weeks before the start of the semester indicating approximately how many hours (10 to 15 hours) they can work a week.  Students can begin working the first day of the semester up until the last day of the semester.

Working between semesters is not currently allowed.  With the permission of the supervisor missed hours can be made up during the semester as long as the student doesn't exceed the total funds they have been allocated or work more than 40 hours in a week.
