FIRST-YEAR PROGRAMS

LEARNING COMMUNITIES

You, like thousands of college students before you, have the ability to improve the world.  The American Sojourn Learning Community will engage you in a journey of mind and  heart of the ongoing Civil Rights struggle in the U.S.  from Jim Crow laws in the South and de facto segregation in the North to the election of President Barack Obama and beyond.  Your active participation in this Learning Community (including off-campus trips to downtown Buffalo, Detroit, and an optional Intersemester Civil Rights Movement tour of the South) will allow you to investigate where we have been, where we are, and where we still need to go to achieve equal opportunity for all Americans.
