FIRST-YEAR PROGRAMS

LEARNING COMMUNITIES

American Schools have been struggling with meeting the needs of students in urban settings who many times have been labeled as "at risk" and failing to achieve to their highest potential.  This learning community will offer students the opportunity and experiences to learn about urban schools and the true potential of students in those schools if provided with teachers who have the true desire to make a difference in the lives of these students.

This particular community will interest students who . . .
* Want to learn and get first hand experience of urban schools through field experiences
* Want to explore the idea of teaching in an urban setting
* Want to learn about culturally responsive teaching
