The courses we offer support both of our major programs—Geography and Planning. Within the Geography program students can focus on Human/Cultural Geography courses or Physical Geography courses. Students in our Planning program can take courses concentrating on Urban Regional Analysis or Environmental Planning. The Planning degree also is designated as an evening program, with the intention of welcoming non-traditional students. As such, the core upper division courses routinely are offered in the evening
We emphasize “skills” courses in both programs, including basic computer applications, statistics, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Many of these computer-oriented courses are supported by our two state-of-the-art computer laboratories. We also have a successful internship program that enables qualified students to gain credit and “real world experience” by working for private sector firms, non-government organizations, local, state, or federal government agencies.
