As usual, we had a number of outstanding Geography and Planning majors graduate in the spring of 2009. The following is a list of students that received awards at our annual awards lunch that was held in May.

In addition to the student awards presentations, we also heard from department alumnus, Harmony Gugino (Urban Planning '06), about her experience working for AmeriCorps after graduation. Dr. Irvine unveiled the new Geography & Planing t-shirt and presented one to Harmony to thank her for coming back to speak to our current and graduating students.
This year's awards ceremony was also important because it marked Dr. Kim Irvine's ninth and final awards ceremony as chair of the department. We acknowledged Dr. Irvine's great service to the department and wished him well as he goes back to doing more research and teaching on a full-time basis.
