How to Apply

Applicants for Degree, Certificate, and Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Programs

Notes: Application requirements are unique to individual programs. Please carefully read the requirements and check the deadline for your program. Be sure to submit a complete application by the appropriate deadline.*

Applicants for Degree, Certificate, and Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Programs

Part 1 of 2: Complete the online application.

Online application can be completed in approximately 10-15 minutes; you can save your work and complete the application later, if needed.
After completing the online application, print or save a copy of the “Signature” page. Students who submitted Part 1 prior to November 4th 2011 will need to print, sign, and submit this form to the Graduate School with their Part II materials.
Submit online application now OR finish previously started application.

Part 2 of 2: Within one week of submitting your online application, send these required materials together to Buffalo State College, The Graduate School, Cleveland Hall 204, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222.

Art Conservation Students Only - All Part II requirements must be sent to the Art Conservation department in one complete application packet no later than February 1st.

1. Students who submitted Part 1 prior to November 4th 2011: The printed copy of the “Signature” page from the online application.

2. A $65 non-refundable application fee (first-time Buffalo State Graduate School applicants only). Acceptable methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard, or check or money order made payable to Buffalo State College. Download fee payment form (PDF).

3. Your official transcripts. Download transcript request form (PDF).
Official transcripts from all college and universities attended must be submitted in sealed envelopes. Each institution must send the transcript directly to the student, Students must submit unopened transcript envelopes with other application materials. Buffalo State transcripts are on file and do not need to be submitted.

4. Other requirements (e.g., statement of intent, letters of recommendation, test scores) as specified by your program. If special forms are required by your program, they are available from the department or in the supplemental forms section.

5. International students: Additional requirements for non-U.S. citizen applicants.

Applicants for Nondegree Seeking Status

Part 1 of 2: Complete the online application.

After completing the online application, print or save a copy of the “Signature” page. Students who submitted Part 1 prior to November 4th 2011 will need to print, sign, and submit this form to the Graduate School with their Part II materials.

3. An official transcript from the institution granting your highest degree earned—minimum of a 4 year bachelor’s degree Download transcript request form (PDF). Transcripts Buffalo State transcripts are on file and do not need to be submitted.

*Buffalo State uses a student-managed application process that requires submission of a complete application packet with all required components to the Graduate School by the appropriate deadline. Incomplete supplemental materials (part 2) received prior to receipt of the online application (part 1) or without a paper application will be returned to the student resulting in a delay of application processing. Submitted materials are the property of the Graduate School. Copies of application materials will not be supplied to the student or any other institution.
