How to Apply

Important Notes:  This online application includes two parts (1 and 2).  Application requirements are unique to individual programs. Please carefully read the requirements and check the deadline for your program. Be sure to submit a complete application by the appropriate deadline.

 

Applicants for Degree, Certificate, and Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Programs

Part 1 of 2: Submit online application now OR finish previously started application.
  • Online application can be completed in approximately 10-15 minutes; you can save your work and complete the application later, if needed.
  • After completing the online application, print or save a copy of the “Confirmation” page for your records.   
  • Check the supplemental application forms for program specific application materials to be submitted with your Part 2 items.
     
Part 2 of 2: Submit the application paymentAll required materials (supplemental materials, transcripts) should be submitted together in one packet no later than the program deadline date to  SUNY Buffalo State, The Graduate School, Cleveland Hall 204, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222.  Some items can also be e-mailed to gradoffc@buffalostate.edu.

Art Conservation Students Only - All Part II requirements must be sent to the Art Conservation department in one complete application packet no later than January 7th.

1. A $65 non-refundable application fee.  Login to your previously submitted Banner Application to make the online payment by Visa or MasterCard.  If you are unable to submit your payment online, please contact the Graduate School at (716) 878-5601 or gradoffc@buffalostate.edu

2. Your official transcripts. Download transcript request form (PDF).
Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted in sealed  envelopes. Each institution must send the transcript directly to the student, Students must  submit unopened transcript envelopes with other application materials. Buffalo State transcripts are on file and do not need to be submitted.

3. Other requirements (e.g., statement of intent, letters of recommendation, test scores) as specified by your program. If special forms are required by your program, they are available from the department or in the supplemental forms section.

4. International students: Additional requirements for non-U.S. citizen applicants. 

Applicants for Nondegree Seeking Status

Part 1 of 2: Submit online application now OR finish previously started application.

Part 2 of 2: Submit the application paymentAll required materials (transcripts) should be submitted together in one packet no later than the program deadline date to  SUNY Buffalo State, The Graduate School, Cleveland Hall 204, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222.  Some items can also be e-mailed to gradoffc@buffalostate.edu.

2. An official transcript from the institution granting your highest degree earned—minimum of a 4 year bachelor’s degree Download transcript request form (PDF). Buffalo State transcripts are on file and do not need to be submitted. 

Buffalo State uses a student-managed application process that requires submission of a complete application packet with all required components to the Graduate School by the appropriate deadline. Incomplete supplemental materials (part 2) received prior to receipt of the online application (part 1) will be returned to the student resulting in a delay of application processing. Submitted materials are the property of the Graduate School. Copies of application materials will not be supplied to the student or any other institution.
