The Community Teaching Pavilion provides an opportunity for students to experience a “hands-on” exploration of the Great Lakes by allowing students to learn while surrounded by the subject they are studying. This classroom can accommodate college classes, elementary and high school students and their teachers, and community groups for workshops and lectures. The facility also serves other functions such as presentation and award ceremonies, and meetings.
The Community Teaching Pavilion complements the present educational and research capabilities of the Great Lakes Center Field Station by improving its infrastructure and expanding its capabilities to support graduate and undergraduate education at the college. It also expands its capacity for public education in a variety of venues, and it serves as a public meeting facility in an attractive setting with ample parking and easy access from the Thruway.
