Students in the Health and Wellness Department at Buffalo State investigate the relationship between lifestyle behavior and health status by interfacing with hospitals, clinicians, insurance providers, as well as not-for-profit organizations. Graduates are prepared for careers in the assessment, administration, design, delivery, and evaluation of health and wellness programs in business, industry, nonprofit, government, and health care organizations.
Students who graduate with a B.S. in health and wellness program learn how to educate adults about behavior that promotes good health. Majors concentrate in adult fitness, social issues in health and wellness, or site-based health promotion and enjoy rewarding careers delivering health risk prevention programs or engaging in health management activities.
The Health and Wellness Department is focused on community health promotion and the ongoing pursuit of academic excellence and professional development. Our student population reflects a diversity of backgrounds, interests, and abilities, with 90 percent of the health and wellness majors were employed or enrolled in graduate programs.
