History MA with Museum Studies Concentration

The graduate program leading to the master of art degree in history with museum studies concentration prepares candidates for professional work in museum and historical agencies.  The program gives students the opportunity to obtain training in a museum setting while refining scholarship and research skills within the discipline of history.

Program Requirements

I. Required Courses (15 cr)
        HIS 660 Museums and Society
        HIS 665 Critical Issues in Museum Studies
        HIS 709 Local/Regional Research Methods
                        or
        HIS 704 American, European, and Third World History
        HIS 500 American History Seminar
        HIS 688 Internship
                        or
        HIS 590 Independent Study

II. Electives (9 cr)
    Select from the following:
        AED 505 Foundations in Museum Education Studies
        CRS 559 Workshop, Nurturing Creative Behavior
        CRS 560 Methods, Theories, and Models of Creative Learning
        COM 519 Communication for Managers
        DES 640 Graduate Studio Design
