King and Queen Competition—Preliminary Round (Talent)


It's a time-honored tradition and an event that continues to grow each year. Registration brochures are available beginning August 22 at the Campbell Student Union Information Desk, Residence Life Office, Student Life Office, Houston Gym 103, or by calling (716) 878-6514.

Lip Sync Competition—Preliminary Round


Students, faculty, and staff—gather up your friends or go solo to this exciting new addition to Homecoming/Family Weekend. Finals will be held during the Pep Rally! Finalists will perform a walk-through prior to tomorrow night's grand finale!

Homecoming/Family Weekend Pep Rally

Campbell Student Union Quad
Get psyched for the King and Queen Competition, the parade, the tailgate parties, and the football games at the annual Pep Rally. Students will enjoy a free chicken barbeque, sponsored by the United Students Government, the finals of the Lip Sync competition and great giveaways while watching the parade of athletes and organizations and the parade of banners. The Buffalo State cheerleaders perform their dance routines as well.

King and Queen Competition—Finals

Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall
The finals of this time-honored tradition takes place in an auditorium befitting such a prestigious competition. Cheer on your favorites, but make sure you get there early before all the seats are gone!

Homecoming/Family Weekend Food Drive for Buffalo State pantry

Our student-athletes will be canvassing the campus to pick up donations by faculty and staff for the Buffalo State Food Pantry, benefiting needy students and area residents. Contact (716) 878-6514 for more information or to help.

Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall
C.J. Johnson’s Comedy Hypnosis Show is one of the best in the business! This laugh-all-night show is fast paced, hilariously funny, yet always remains within the boundaries of good taste.

Wegmans Shopping Cart Float Competition

This unique event has grown bigger every year since its inception in 2002. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to register for a shopping cart, courtesy of Wegmans, and turn it into a Homecoming float. Last year, nearly 60 groups, organizations, and individuals took part, and the floats were amazing! You'll parade your float in the Homecoming Parade before "parking" it next to the huge Homecoming/Family Weekend Tailgate Tent adjacent to the football field. Homecoming/Family Weekend Parade

Join President Howard, a Western New York area marching band, our shopping cart floats, students, alumni, and others in our mile-long parade through the neighborhoods bordering the campus and back to the football stadium.


10:45 a.m.
Homecoming/Family Weekend Tailgate Tent

Lot L-1, adjacent to Coyer Field
Step under the huge white tent-it's 40 feet by 120 feet-and take part in a pre-game tailgate party with live entertainment, Buffalo State style! You'll enjoy a Chiavetta's chicken barbeque, wine and beer tasting, and much more! After the barbeque, satisfy your sweet tooth at our student chef's dessert table.

Student Tailgate Party

Lot L-1, adjacent to the Homecoming/Family Weekend Tailgate Tent
Students, get psyched for the football game and enjoy free hot dogs, Italian Sausage, pizza from Mister Pizza, Pepsi, and more. The DJ will keep everyone rocking while games and activities will get you ready for the game against The College of New Jersey.

Homecoming Football Game

Coyer Field
Coyer Field will be packed! We'll have great promotions throughout the game as well as an area high school marching band performing at halftime. We'll announce the winners of the King and Queen Competition, the Shopping Cart Float Competition, the Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, and the Young Alumnus Achievement Award recipients. For tickets, call (716) 878-6514 or visit the Coyer Field ticket office the day of the game.

Athletics Hall of Fame

The Class of 2008 will be officially inducted into the Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Fame during a reception and ceremony following the football game. For tickets and information, call (716) 878-6514.

USG Homecoming Carnival

Lot G
Carnival featuring a ferris wheel, giant slide, paratrooper ride, plus games and food stands. Free for students, small fees at some attractions for families and friends.

Club Homecoming Dance

Campbell Student Union, Social Hall
Students can cap off Homecoming/Family Weekend week by dancing into the morning hours to the latest, greatest tunes. It's a great, FREE way to chill with friends and close out Homecoming/Family Weekend 2008.
