Gary Pettibone's scientific training is in the area of microbiology. He spent three years as a post-doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts investigating aspects of microbial ecology.
At Buffalo State since 1986, Pettibone has developed an active research program in applied environmental microbiology that focuses on the biology and ecology of selected bacteria found in aquatic environments, including those of public health importance. He plans to continue work in this area and anticipates including undergraduates in his research projects.
