At the core of the department's mission statement is the development of "enterprising" students through distinctive educational experiences, including membership or leadership in student organizations.
The Hospitality and Tourism Department sponsors and encourages membership in three student organizations: the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH), and Eta Sigma Delta (ESD) International Honor Society for Students in Hospitality Management. All three clubs provide excellent opportunities for leadership positions and participation in chapter activities including field trips; guest lectures; local, regional, and national conferences; scholarship opportunities; and professional networking.
