Richard Podemski, dean, Graduate Studies and Research, was elected to a two-year term as chair of the Great Lakes Research Consortium in November. The consortium involves nearly 400 faculty members from 25 colleges and universities in New York and Ontario in collaborative research and education. Its mission is to improve the understanding of the Great Lakes ecosystem, including the physical, biological, and chemical processes that shape it, as well as the social and political forces that affect human impact on the lakes and their associated economic resources.
