What is Foundations of Inquiry (BSC 101)?
Foundations of Inquiry (BSC 101) introduces the Buffalo State College liberal arts curriculum and lays a foundation of critical thinking and basic research skills. Each section of Foundations of Inquiry focuses on one or more interdisciplinary topics while exploring interconnections among cognate disciplines in the Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
What Section of Foundations of Inquiry (BSC 101) Should I Take?
You should choose the section that most intrigues you. Each instructor has chosen a different, interdisciplinary theme. The common elements of the course include critical thinking, research, etc.

Should I Take Foundations of Inquiry (BSC 101)?
Definitely Yes, If:
- You are beginning Buffalo State as a first-year student. Welcome to Buffalo State and the Intellectual Foundations Program. You must complete BSC 101 and CWP 101 within your first year in college.
- You are transferring in fewer than 57 credits, you must complete BSC 101 in your first year.
