INTELLECTUAL FOUNDATIONS

FOR FACULTY

The Intellectual Foundations Program is the result of more than four years of deliberations by three different Senate committees. As part of these deliberations, nearly 100 faculty and many more students participated in focus groups and surveys. Extensive research was conducted into "best practices" at other colleges as well as the philosophy and goals of liberal arts, general education programs.

The Senate, with near unanimity, passed the resolution establishing the Intellectual Foundations program in March, 2004.  An implementation plan that demonstrated the sources of adequate faculty and financial resources was approved by the Senate in November, 2004.
