Program/Degree Change Notification

F-1 students possess an I-20 that reflects their current degree program at Buffalo State College. If a student's degree program will change or has changed, a new I-20 should be requested to maintain legal status. A process called "Program/Degree Change Notification" must be completed on the new I-20 by the Office of International Student Affairs. This process notifies the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of the new program

The Office of International Student Affairs is responsible for preparing the I-20 and where changes can be made to the I-20.

If a student is beginning a graduate program at a new college/university, the new college/university will issue the I-20.

Please make an appointment with the Office of International Student Affairs prior to changing your program or degree of study. Make sure to inform the Office of International Student Affairs in a timely manner to complete this process.
