Scholarships for International Students from Buffalo State College

  1. Eleanor Blackburn and Frances Tyau Scholarships - The Office of International Student Affairs provides financial awards through two scholarships to international students who must be matriculated and enrolled full-time at Buffalo State when they apply. Varying amounts are awarded every year ranging from $300.00 to $1,000.00 and fundraising through the College Foundation increases these amounts every year. These awards depend upon merit and need and appropriate selection committees decide on the amount of the awards. For more information, please contact the Office of International Student Affairs.

  Scholarships for International Students

  1. Patrick Charnon Memorial Scholarship – For students that value tolerance, compassion and respect for all other people in their community. Student must demonstrate their commitment to these values in an essay and must be admitted or enrolled full time in an undergraduate program at a four year US college.  For application and more information go to www.cesresources.org/charnon.html

  1.   1. Barbara Wiedner and Dorothy Vandercook Peace Scholarship – For students who participate in activities relating to peace and social justice, nuclear disarmament issues, and conflict resolution.  Must be a high school senior or college freshman.  For application and additional information visit the website at www.grandmothersforpeace.org/scholarships/

  1.   1.   1. The Point Foundation Scholarship – For students with a history of leadership in the LGBT community and plan to be a LGBT leader in the future.  Must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States and demonstrate proven leadership skills and excellent scholastic achievements.  Non-citizens are encouraged to apply.  For additional information and application visit the website at www.thepointfoundation.org

  1. Ambassadorial Scholarships (Rotary International) – The purpose of this program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries.  Scholars are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill through appearances before Rotary Clubs, schools, civic organizations and other forums.  Applicants must be earning their undergraduate, graduate or vocational study or have completed two years of university work or appropriate professional experience.  For additional information and application visit the website at www.rotary.org/foundation/educational/amb_scho/index.html

  1. American Express Travel Scholarship - Established in 1989 to encourage the pursuit of education and the growth and development of tomorrow's travel/tourism work force. The candidate must be enrolled in a travel and tourism program in either a two or four-year college/university or proprietary travel school.   1. The Roothbert Fund - The Roothbert Fund was created in 1958 by Albert and Toni Roothbert to help men and women in need of financial aid to further their education. The Raymond Davis Scholarship - This scholarship is granted by the society to a student or students of photographic or imaging science or engineering for use in continuing their studies as graduate or undergraduate students. This grant is made for academic study or research in the theory or practice of image formation by radiant energy. An applicant must be a graduate or undergraduate student who has completed or will complete two academic years of college before the term of the scholarship.   8. Finlandia Foundation National Trust Scholarship - Applicants must be citizens of the United States of Finland and accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning.
