Dr. Deborah Hovland holds the PhD in French language and literature from the University of Minnesota and the MA in French from Middlebury College. A medievalist by training, her teaching and research interests include French Caribbean literature, history and culture; the staging and performance practices of 12th-17th century French and Italian drama; medieval and early modern culinary history; and the medieval French romance. She is also the founder and supervisor of Buff State's French Language Suite, a total immersion living experience for students interested in French and Francophone culture.
