Student Assistants provide general information about computing services at Buffalo State. This includes information about access to services provided by CTS and other Buffalo State departments. Application Support Desk staff must be familiar with and abide by Buffalo State policies associated with responsible use of information technologies. Student Assistants must be able to recognize questions that go beyond the scope of services provided by the Application Support Desk, and make accurate referrals to other service providers as needed.

Problem resolution involves gathering information, diagnosing the patrons' needs, conducting research to find correct solutions, and following-up to confirm that the patrons are able to access their required services or applications.

Compensation and Advancement

The starting pay is $7.75 per hour. Student Assistants are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week while classes are in session. Additional hours are available during semester breaks and over the summer. Successful Student Assistants have the opportunity to advance to a Student Coordinator position.
