Cataloging - Technical Services
This department processes and catalogs new materials in all formats: books, periodicals, Web sites, and audiovisual items. The department maintains the online catalog.

Circulation Services
Buffalo State faculty, staff, and students may borrow books and reserve materials upon presentation of a valid Bengal ID card.

Curriculum Materials Lab
A special resource for teachers and others working with children, the Curriculum Materials Lab includes a collection of children's books, elementary- and secondary-level textbooks, and New York State Curriculum Guides and Learning Standards.

Information Commons
The Information Commons provides a single location for questions, incorporating the former Reference and Circulation desks. Reference librarians are available for research assistance. Circulation staff will check out materials and answer questions about loan periods, class reserves, overdue fines, lost books, holds, searches, recalls, or lost and found items.

Microforms
Butler Library has many journals, magazines, and newspapers, as well as more than 90,000 documents stored on microfilm, microfiche, and micro-opaque cards. Equipment is available for reading, printing, or digitizing microform materials.

Reference Services
Reference librarians assist patrons with their research needs at the Information Commons, through individual appointments, and in course-related classes, Library 100, and Library 300.
