    English Literature on the Web
    This is an index of Web pages devoted to several hundred English and Irish authors. It is arranged chronologically by authors' birthdates starting from 500 A.D. to the present.

    Fiction Connection
    Find out the titles of books that are similar to works of fiction you enjoy, or browse lists of fiction in many categories.

    Internet Public Library: Literary Criticism
    Contains critical and biographical Web sites about authors and their works. Browse by author, title, nationality, or literary period.

    Internet Public Library: Writing
    This resource maintains a collection of sites about the writing process directed mainly towards writers, including information on creative writing, proper grammar, style, and usage.

    SparkNotes
    SparkNotes provides summaries of books frequently assigned in college literature courses. Harvard University students and recent graduates created the site and its contents.

    The Voice of the Shuttle is a very comprehensive source for information about literature on the Web. Use the search engine for quicker navigation.

      This page is dedicated to children's literature and includes interviews with many children's authors and illustrators. Created for children in grades 2-10, the site will also be useful to teachers, parents, and others interested in children's literature.

    • Children's Literature Comprehensive Database
      Thousands of full-text reviews of children's books. Link to the Children's Literature home page for information on authors and illustrators, teaching materials, book awards, and more.

    • Columbia Granger's World of Poetry
      An index of poems along with biographies, commentaries, and the full text of 250,000 poems.
    • Poetry Archive
      Streaming audio of poets (mostly British) reading their work. Nearly 150 poets are represented. Poems arranged by theme, author, and form and title. Includes a glossary of poetry terms.
    • Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries
      Digital online collection of music from many North American and global traditions. Also includes spoken word, poetry, prose, and sound effects.
    • Sonnet Central
      Sonnet Central provides both the full text of many sonnets and a variety of useful resources for learning about sonnets, including a bibliography and a "Listening Room" where one can hear recordings of many sonnets.
