Poems:

Cinquain Mutiny

I refuse
to be a poet,
a content intepreter
of these words within words stuck through- No longer.

Bus Stop

There's a wrinkled woman sitting next to me, who has my grandmother's laugh; and smells like leftover chicken soup, her bags collected around her feet.

She shivers through her faded blue coat, and pulls down her wool knit hat to protect her new permament against the blustering and chilling wind.

I stomp my feet over the old cigarette butts, and brush up against the broken bottles of beer that look like decoupage in the snow; always remembering to take a deep breath.

She offers me a lifesaver from her pocket and I give her a half-smile, wondering if she was like me at twenty-two; if she scribled poems on the back of envelopes as I did.
