The Third
This week's topic - what a puzzle.
Second down, a seven letter word for mother.
Still her crosswords on the nightstand;
Her hidden cookies in drawers and cupboards.
Undone laundry, undecidedly in the basement hamper.
What would we do were it all washed anyway?
A five-letter word for rest, and a woman gravely missed.
A Belle. With hymns and prayers to share -
For those that would listen, and those who wouldn't.
And three across - childhood; rooms for spare and rug-burn down the stairs.
It's strange how always there, becomes painfully missed.
So much left of hers; But so little left of her.
Now she's but a walk across the street,
A trip I never wanted to make.
Only a month and still sit unfinished crosswords.
Unfinished words and clouded memories.
What's so important to say anyway, you had your say.
Take care and be taken care of; follow in my steps.
Tell everyone that I never told...
How easily words can be crossed when I'm gone.
