Buffalo State ID Card

What is a Buffalo State ID card? - Buffalo State ID card is the multipurpose photo ID issued to students, faculty, and staff at Buffalo State. Each card has a unique identification number assigned to the cardholder. It is the official ID for the use of college services and facilities.

How do I get a Buffalo State ID card? - To receive a Buffalo State ID card, you must be a currently registered student or on the current college personnel roster. A valid photo ID (drivers license, passport, etc.) must be shown to obtain your card. Buffalo State ID cards are available in Butler Library during the times listed below.

Students who are enrolled in a distance learning course at Buffalo State who do not reside on campus and who do not attend any other classes on the Buffalo State campus are eligible for a Buffalo State photo-exempt ID card. You will need to provide your full name, address, phone number, and Social Security Number. For more information, contact Marsha Jurkowski at jurkowma@buffalostate.edu.

What is my Buffalo State ID card used for? - Your ID card has many important uses:

  • Library Card
    Your Buffalo State ID card is used to check out materials and reserve items at Butler Library and can be used to check out materials at all other SUNY libraries.

  • Library Debit Card
    Your Buffalo State ID card may be used to make photocopies and laser prints in the library. Money may be added to your card at the add-value machines located in the lower lobby and photocopier lounge. If your Buffalo State ID card is lost or stolen and you had added money to it for copying and printing, this money will not be refunded. Contact Marsha Jurkowski, Information Commons Supervisor, at 878-6682 for more information.

  • Extended Library Hours ID Card
    For security purposes, all current Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff must produce a valid Buffalo State ID card for admittance to the library after 11:00 p.m.

  • Meal Card
    Your Buffalo State ID card is your meal debit card for all food services on campus. Contact Dining Services in Campbell Student Union, CU 213, at 878-5214 for more information.

Replacing Your Buffalo State ID Card

Your initial Buffalo State ID card is free of charge. Replacement Buffalo State ID cards cost $10.00 with a 24 hour turn-around time for replacement. A new picture is required. Report lost or stolen cards immediately to Butler Library at 878-3416 or 878-6303. If you have a Buffalo State meal plan, contact Dining Services in Campbell Student Union, CU 213, at 878-5214 to validate your replacement card. Replacement of damaged cards is at the discretion of the library.

Re-admitted Students of Buffalo State College

If you are a re-admitted student at Buffalo State your previous Buffalo State ID card will be valid upon registration. If your card is lost and you have not registered for up to two semesters, you may receive a new Buffalo State ID card free of charge. There is a $10.00 charge for a lost card if you have registered in the last two semesters.

Card Care

Do not place stickers on your card or punch holes in it as this will damage our card readers. ID cards found with stickers or holes will be confiscated and the student will be charged $10.00 for replacement.
