Home : Beyond the Classroom
The Music Department offers students exciting opportunities to grow outside the classroom, with groups and activities including the Buffalo State College Singers, Chamber Choir, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, various instrumental chamber ensembles, Students in Music, ensemble and solo recitals, Thursday Performance Series, and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference.
Field Experience
Music education majors are able to participate in field experiences in elementary and special needs education and secondary vocal and instrumental music. Music education students are able to take courses on-site in Buffalo State's Campus West School, allowing students valuable interaction with K-8 music students.
The department has also established a relationship with the University of Warsaw. In the fall of 2006, 10 music majors, accompanied by Music faculty, travelled abroad and studied music in Poland. Buffalo State plans to host University of Warsaw music students and faculty in reciprocation.
