Daniel Black joined the Buffalo State College Music Department in Fall 2008 and teaches applied voice.
A recent graduate of the Master's program in Choral Conducting at Houghton College, Daniel Black is an active singer, conductor and music educator in the Buffalo area. In addition to teaching voice at Buffalo State College, he conducts choirs at Villa Maria College and Nardin Academy. He sings professionally with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and the Vocalis Chamber Choir and recently performed as bass soloist for the Buffalo Choral Arts Society's performance of Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass".
A native of Minnesota, he attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he received a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Studies. He then worked as a church choir conductor and free-lance singer in the Chicago area before moving back to his homeland to do the same.
After moving to Houghton in 2006, he studied with Brandon Johnson and appeared in concert as Assistant Conductor to the Men's Choir, Women's Choir, and most recently the highly acclaimed Houghton College Choir.
He is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda honor society.
