The Career Development Center serves a diverse population of students and alumni as they identify, pursue, and achieve their personal, career, and educational goals. We provide developmental student-focused services, resources, and access to exploratory experiences that meet changing individual and societal needs.

CDC Services

Graduate School Information
Information on scholarships, fellowships, graduate school rankings, and writing personal statements is maintained in the CDC.

Individual Counseling
Juniors or seniors wishing to discuss graduate school plans may make an appointment with a counselor. Call 878-5811.

Fairs
Once a year the CDC sponsors Graduate School Fair and The Greater Western New York Law School Fair for those students interested in continuing their education. Representatives from graduate and law schools come to campus to discuss their schools’ programs and admission requirements.

GRE, GMAT, LSAT
Applications for these graduate school entrance exams are available in GC 306.

Writing a Personal Statement
The CDC has sample statements and other resources available in the CDC, as well as on the web.

Getting Feedback on Your Personal Statement
Make an appointment with one of the counselors to review your draft. Prior to this appointment, we suggest looking at the resources (e.g. sample statements) we have available in the CDC, as well as on the web. There is a limit of two appointments with our career counselors for review of personal statements.

A print draft has to be submitted to a career counselor at the time of scheduling an appointment. No e-mail submissions will be accepted. The career counselor will provide a general review of the essay or statement for organization, style, and originality. Discussion of the statement will take place during the scheduled appointment. If appropriate, the student may be referred to the Academic Skills Center for further assistance.
