II.  Goals
   

A.

Division/Department Goal: To create a professional development library to assist professionals and managers in planning and achieving professional development goals by December 31, 2002.

Individual Goal:  By October 31, 2002 develop an on-line lending library that allows users to search for materials using a variety of categories, includes the ability to reserve materials on-line, and allows users to provide feedback to HRM regarding the usefulness of the library to their professional development.


 

Division/Department Goal: By June 30, 2003 create a system to connect job applicants with available positions that increases the applicant pool by 10% and decreases staff time spent on phone calls by 50%.

Individual Goal:  By January 31, 2003 develop a job posting subscription service to notify registered job seekers by e-mail of new vacancies at Buffalo State.  The system will include demographic and career goal information to assist in evaluating and making enhancements to the system.


 

Division/Department Goal: By September 1, 2002 cross-train HRM staff members in the worker’s compensation process so that 2 additional staff can answer questions and process paperwork.

Individual Goal: Train the Staff Assistant in Payroll to use the worker’s compensation system, providing technical support and guidance so that he can work independently by August 30, 2002.       


 

Division/Department Goal: By January 1, 2003 have 90% of the HRM forms available at the HRM website to increase the accessibility and ease of completion for campus constituents.

Individual Goal: By September 30, 2002 review all forms to be placed on the website and draft documents for review by HRM staff.  Enter final documents on the website by December 15, 2002.

B.

Professional Development Goal: Specialty Expertise:  Improve skills in web-based programming to be able to simplify form processing and page content on the HRM website.

Activity Plan: Take web workshop offered by SUNY in March, 2002 in Syracuse.

Support Necessary for Completion: Time off – March 18-22, 2002 and travel expenses.  (Will apply for tuition through UUP Professional Development grant.)  Assistance from supervisor to develop a project that will enable immediate application of skills after attending the workshop.


Professional Development Goal: Networking: Build network of 10 contacts with similar technical positions in Western New York by June 30, 2002.

Activity Plan: Join Acme Technical professional organization and attend at least 3 meetings by June 7, 2002. Volunteer to serve on one committee by the third monthly meeting in June, 2002.

Support Necessary for Completion: $15 monthly meeting fee x 3 meetings, time to attend meetings
