SUNY Graduate Student Employee Health Plan - Open Enrollment Period August 11 through September 26, 2008

Under the terms of the negotiated contract between New York State and the Graduate Student Employee’s Union/Communications Worker’s of America (GSEU/CAW), re-appointment as a Graduate Assistant entitles you, and your eligible dependents, to participate in the SUNY Graduate Student Employee Health Plan. A summary of the plan and rate information is enclosed.

The Student Employee Health Plan (SEHP) provides for:

  • Health care services coordinated through the Empire Plan, and a network of specialists and other health professionals in the community
  • Employer contributions – SUNY pays for 90% of the enrollee cost and 75% of the dependent portion
  • Health insurance premiums may be deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis
  • Enhanced dental benefits and discounted vision care benefits

Coverage Under the Student Employee Health Plan is Not Automatic.  You must enroll within the annual open enrollment period (August 11 through September 26, 2008. If you fail to enroll during this time and do not have a qualifying event, you will be subject to a 30-day waiting period.
