Deceased Employee
- Notify Human Resource Management as soon as possible when notified of an employee's
death.
- Prepare a Current Employee Change Form with a recommendation code of deceased and
route for approval.
- Prepare a brief biography about the employee and forward to College Relations and the
President's Office.
- Notify colleagues, staff, and if required, students.
- Upon receipt of Change Form, update department records and file.
- Following a reasonable time interval, notify the family or estate of personal items
available at their office, desk, or work station. Contact Campus Services to arrange for
assistance with packing and retrieving personal items.

negative.
Candidates not recommended for renewal of appointment may have additional procedural
rights. Please consult with HRM in the case of a non-renewal of appointment.

Resignation
- Prepare a Current Employee Change Form with the recommendation code of resignation
and route for approval. Attach the employee's resignation letter.
- Meet with the employee to discuss the status of current projects, return of College
property and keys.
- Upon receipt of fully approved Change Form and Resignation Acknowledgement memo,
update department records and file.
- Prepare Position Release/Recruitment Plan Form if replacement hire is anticipated
and route for approval.
Professional employees are expected to provide at least thirty (30) days notice of
resignation.
Classified service employees are expected to provide at least two (2) weeks notice of
resignation.

Note: Retiring classified service employees must contact their retirement
system (ERS) and advise them of their intention
- Receive retirement letter from employee and prepare a Current Employee Change Form
with the recommendation code of retirement..
- Human Resources will confirm the effective date of retirement with the chair/supervisor.
- Upon receipt of the fully approved Change Form, update department records and file.
- Prepare a Position Release/Recruitment Plan (as required) if a replacement hire is
anticipated and route for approval.
