NYS-Ride:  A Money-Saving Transportation Benefit for NYS Employees

NYS-Ride (pronounced NICE Ride) is a program that allows New York State employees to save money on a monthly basis on eligible public transportation expenses by paying for the cost through pre-tax payroll deductions. By enrolling in NYS-Ride, you can save money on work-related public transportation expenses/fares for mass transit or vanpools–and support a cleaner New York. The program is sponsored by GOER and administered by WageWorks.

NYS-Ride Qualifying Public Transportation Commuter Costs Include:

  • Buses
  • Trains
  • Subways
  • Van Pools
  • Ferries

Employees who participate in NYS-Ride may save up to 40 percent on transportation expenses, up to the statutory limits. The IRS has increased the allowable pre-tax amount effective for 2013 and you may now set aside up to $245 per month in pre-tax salary when you enroll in NYS-Ride.

There is no open enrollment period. You must enroll two months prior to the month you would like to participate. For additional information or to enroll in NYS-Ride, visit www.nysride.com or call 1-866-428-7781.
