The intention to persuade, convince or influence in order to have a specific impact. Includes the ability to anticipate and respond to the needs and concerns of others. 
 
expected Uses single, direct action of persuasion in a discussion or presentation using data or concrete examples to influence others.
expected Uses several tactics including two or more different arguments or points to persuade. 
expected Demonstrates sensitivity in detecting underlying concerns, interests of others and uses to develop effective responses; looks for "win-win" opportunities with others. 
target behavior Calculates impact of own actions/words and adapts to influence a specific audience. 
behavior beyond target Develops and maintains a planned network of relationships in order to influence; assembles support with colleagues in private for ideas; gathers information and solves problems before making decisions public.
