Duties:Administer the department (consisting of philosophical, historical, social, and psychological foundations, and adult education); teach courses in one of the content areas represented in the department; supervise student research; publish the results of original research in scholarly journals; procure external grants; contribute to curriculum development; serve committees in the School of Education and Buffalo State College; work with school and community leaders.
Required Qualifications:Earned doctorate in foundations of education, educational psychology, or adult education. Evidence of at least 5 years full-time college teaching experience and an earned rank of at least associate professor. Evidence of progressively responsible leadership within a department or disciplinary program (e.g. department chair, program coordinator, unit director) closely related to foundations of education, educational psychology, or adult education. Evidence of knowledge of issues of race, class, gender, and special populations in education. Evidence of ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in historical, philosophical, social, or psychological foundations of education, urban education, educational psychology and/or child/adolescent development, or adult education. Evidence of a scholarly research agenda in historical, philosophical, social, or psychological foundations of education, urban education, or adult education.
Preferred Qualifications:Two years experience as a department chair.
