Duties:Provide Microsoft SQL Server database and core technology administration for many SQL Server instances within SUNY. Help handle technical (MS SQL Server relational database, other administrative languages and programs) support problems and provide technical guidance to member campuses. Develop and test programs as needed, utilizing software we support as well as other third-party software. Assist member campuses with relational database program specifications for systems they are planning on installing and or developing. Assist teaching seminars and conduct workshops as needed through the SUNY Training Center.
Required Qualifications:Experience carrying out daily MS SQL Server DBA duties or equivalent work experience in MS SQL Server 2005 or 2008 environment; Experience tuning and troubleshooting MS SQL Server 2005 or 2008; Experience with MS Management Studio including Profiler; Experience with Windows Server 2003 or 2007; Windows programming or scripting experience including batch, VBS or .net; Data access and reporting techniques in a relational database environment using one or more of the following: SQL, T/SQL; Good presentation skills, interpersonal skills, written and communication skills; A four-year college degree in Computer Information Systems or a four-year degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience designing and administering MS SQL Server high availability solutions; Experience administering MS IIS; Experience with Angel Learning distance learning application; Experience in a technical support environment supporting database products and related technologies on MS Windows, SUN Solaris, IBM AIX or other UNIX / Linux platforms; Experience with application development in a SQL Server environment, Experience with Business Intelligence tools and OLAP; Knowledge of Microsoft’s Office Suite; Database administrative experience with Oracle, MySQL, or Postgres; Experience with RedGate backup solutions; Experience with Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager.
