Smart Classrooms (printable version)
Below is a list of Buffalo State 's general purpose Smart classrooms. General purpose means any faculty member from any academic department may be scheduled to teach in one. Smart means the room contains the equipment listed below.
Please note there are also several academic department scheduled instructional spaces that may also contain technology. Contact your academic department for additional information.
If you are scheduled to teach in one of the college's general purpose Smart classrooms, contact Classroom Technology Support at 878-4538 or 878-6670 to arrange for a brief one-on-one training session. These sessions are available Monday Thursday between 7:00 am 9:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Attending a training session will provide you with an overview on how to unlock and use the technology in the classroom and the trainer will then give you with a signed key card. You will then take the key card to Clinton Center and pick up a cabinet key so you can open the equipment cabinet. Most keys work in all Smart classroom cabinets.

The following equipment is available in each of the Smart classrooms:

Each computer has CD/DVD drives, Windows XP, Office 2003 and the following software:
- MS Visual Studio 2005
- Mozilla Firefox 2.0
- Internet Explorer v.6.0
- SPSS version 15
- SAS version 9
- Minitab version 15
- Mathematica version 6
- Artstor Offline Image Viewer 2.6

Bulger Communication Center - North , South , South 2 , West , West 2 , East , and East 2
- Wireless microphone
- 3 slide projectors
These rooms are able to display three large rear screen images across the front of the room and one front screen image below the center rear screen giving you the option of displaying a variety of media at one time.

Bulger Communication Center N2A
- Tandberg IP based videoconferencing unit
- Polycom tracking camera
- Ability to record class session to VHS or DVD
- Seats 31 with access to power and networking ports for laptops
N2A is the college's new videoconferencing learning space which can be used for meetings, academic classes, or one-time events to connect with other colleges, K-12 schools, museums or companies worldwide. This room is scheduled through the Instructional Resources Office 878-6679.
Bulger Communication Center N2B
N2B can display one data or video rear screen image or two slide images rear screen in addition to an overhead front screen image at the same time.

Bulger Communication Center N2D
N2D, the former Western New York Fiber Network distance learning classroom was completely rehabbed into a mathematics teaching space for the fall 2007. Utilizing funds from the Title III grant, this was a joint project between the Mathematics Department and Instructional Resources. This space will facilitate the use of interactive student centered pedagogical practices.
This space contains all of the traditional equipment found in a smart classroom as well as wireless, access to 27 laptops, and printing.
This space seats 27 students and is scheduled through Mathematics Department at 878-5621.
How do I schedule my class to be in a Smart classroom?
Faculty interested in teaching in a general purpose Smart classroom should contact their department chair.
How do I reserve a Smart classroom to use for an activity outside an academic class, such as meetings, guest speaker, or workshop?
Events Management schedules Smart classrooms for events other than regularly scheduled academic classes. For departmental, college and community events call 878-6114. For student events call 878-3840
