This section was created to assist faculty and staff with any presentation materials they might need. Computer Graphics will create powerpoints, brochures, and posters; however, sometimes there is not enough time available, or faculty would like to do it themselves. Therefore, we have created templates to assist anyone wanting to make their own materials. If there is anything missing from here that you would like to see, feel free to contact me and I'll see what I can do to add it. Email Kaylene Waite or call ext. 6676.
Poster templates - these are to help guide you in creating your own poster using PowerPoint. In Computer Graphics we generally create posters in Adobe InDesign; however, we realize that not everyone has this program or knows how to use it. We have found that posters can be created and printed easily from PowerPoint and that most faculty are familiar with the program.
There is one main key to using PowerPoint for large sized posters: As soon as you open a new document in PowerPoint - go to the Page Setup and set the height and width to the actual size you want the poster to be.
Then you can add your text and graphics just as you would in a regular PowerPoint presentation. Please remember that this is a large poster - so many web images will be too low resolution to use - they will become pixelized. Check out the tips below to find out where to download higher resolution clipart and photos for your poster. Please check with us if you have any questions.
Here are several actual posters you may use as templates - just replace their text with yours, add your own tables and/or images to make it your own. Feel free to change the fonts and colors.
Don't know what poster size to go with?
If you are thinking of having us laminate and/or mount the poster onto foam core, it must be 30" x 40" or smaller. Our lamination material is only available in 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" size.

Try to leave at least 1/4 inch white space around your poster. Most printers cannot print to the very edge of the paper. When using a colored background or template in PowerPoint - it is okay to ignore this - just know that we will size it down slightly so that it all fits on the page.
Keeping the background white on posters not only saves ink; but is generally easier to read. Try to add color by putting it in or behind the subheadings, behind the title of the poster, and by using clipart or photographs.
Use a font that is easy to read for the main text - either a serif font like Times, or a san-serif font like Arial. If you'd like a fancy font, use that in the poster title and/or the subheadings.
