SLN http://sln.suny.edu

If your class is online using the SUNY Learning Network, there will be a few different steps you need to take to get started. These are simple steps so do not worry!

Buffalo State has been a member of the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) since 2000 and has offered undergraduate and graduate level courses via this system. SLN classes do not use ANGEL; therefore you will access this system differently.

To access SLN, you will use a different username than you use for SABRE. Your username for SLN is simple to remember - it is your first name and your last name. For example, Joan Smith. Notice the space between the first and last name.

You will choose your own password and an e-mail address. You can use any e-mail address you like. You do not have to use your College account for SLN. Feel free to use your personal e-mail account.

To get started, you must request a SLN username and password via an online form on the SLN Web site.

  1. Go to http://sln.suny.edu
  2. Choose Students
  3. If you have never taken an SLN online class, choose Create SLN Account. If you have taken an SLN class in the past, just log in.
  4. The system will perform a check of your computer. You may then choose Yes, create account.
  5. Fill out the online form which will generate your SLN account.
  6. Select SLN
  7. Select Buffalo / University College
  8. Fill out the online form. It is long, but please fill it all out and read it carefully!!!
  9. Once you have carefully read and filled out the form, click the Create Account button at the bottom of the Web form.
  10. Print the confirmation message
  11. Wait to receive the username and password information to the e-mail account you provided form. This takes about an hour but may take up to 24 hours during peak times.
  12. Return to http://sln.suny.edu and log in.

For information on SLN's technical requirements, see http://sln.suny.edu/sln_whatissln.htm.

Please note that there is a Help Desk for SLN classes. This is called the SUNY Learning Network Help Desk and please do NOT confuse it with the Buffalo State College Computer Support Center. They are very different places. If you ever need any assistance with SLN classes, call the SUNY Learning Network Help Desk at 1-800-875-6269. They are open seven days a week.
