Students: 105 Grade 8 students

 On Tuesday April 24, 1998, 105 students from Amherst Middle School spent a day in the outdoors touring Buffalo State College's Great Lakes Center (at the foot of Porter Avenue in Buffalo) and later arrived at Lake Kirsy (Tift Farms) to sample water quality. The students were also treated to a trout release and Mr. Swalm's fish finder!

Dissolved Oxygen = 8 ppm

Dissolved Oxygen Saturation = 80%

Phosphate = 0.1 ppm

Nitrate = <0.1ppm

Secchi Depth = 3.5 ft

Temperature = 15.5oC

Dissolved Solids = 336 ppm

Suspended Solids = 5.7 ppm

Total Solids = 341.7 ppm

pH = 7

Benthic Organisms = 2 species of snails and 1 leech

E - Coli = 20-50/mL near visitor center (unsafe for swimming)

0-2/mL at mouth of creek
